One thing I would recommend adding to any Arch installation is the Chaotic AUR. It's essentially a repo of most AUR packages precompiled, so you don't have to compile them yourself. For example, with the Cosmic desktop environment it's a royal pain to compile all the packages for that yourself, so instead you can get it from the Chaotic AUR and have them installed/updated in seconds. Another nice thing about having the Chaotic AUR on your system is it basically makes AUR helpers (like yay or paru) redundant, as all the AUR packages are accessible with pacman.

This PC isn't the greatest, and I have only been using Arch since last year, so I know I am still considered a "newbie". But I can never go to anything other than Arch LOL

We all started somewhere though, right?  <3

Arch is a great operating system. I think it was spring of 2022 when I first tried it, and at that point I had been using Pop! OS for a few months. I really didn't like the default DE that shipped with Pop, and you can't really remove it without breaking things so I used KDE Plasma, then branched out to tiling window managers, specifically awesomeWM. I really liked awesome so I stuck with it. One problem I remember having constantly was wanting to install programs that weren't available through Pop's repositories, but were easily available on Arch, either with pacman or through the AUR. Looking back the big two reasons I ended up going with Arch were 1) I only need to have what I actually used installed - I choose how bloated it is, and 2) the repositories were much more up to date and had more to choose from. It's rare that I come across a package I can't easily install on Arch.

Though I had been using awesomeWM for years, last summer I decided to try Hyprland, the Wayland equivalent of i3. At that time it was an absolute shitshow; the main problem being any program that relied on XWayland would crash at random then I would have to log out and back in to open any XWayland window. It was unusable. That was until around the end of the summer, I tried Hyprland again and it was a flawless experience. I've since grown accustomed to it and it's the main WM that I use now. I really like the keyboard driven workflow and the tags/workspaces, whatever you wanna call 'em. It's so nice.
