Free/Libre Video Games

One area that Free/Libre Software doesn't get much attention is video games. This thread is to showcase that there are great games out there that have libre licenses.

Taisei

A bullet hell style game that features characters from the Touhou series. It's essentially libre Touhou. Very enjoyable.


Veloren

A voxel-style exploration driven RPG with massive mountains and sprawling cave systems. Fun to play with friends and explore. The community is constantly expanding it as well. Gliding off a summit is so much fun.


Luanti (formerly Minetest)

Not just a Minecraft clone, but it is a game engine unto itself. You can install "Mods" in-game that are essentially different games built in the Luanti engine. It also runs on a potato (I have a ThinkPad T500 from 2009 that can run it).


OpenArena

I believe it's based off the Quake III source code; it is an arena shooter similar to Quake or Unreal Tournament '99. Another great game to play with friends if shooters are your jam.
